Papa Bear Adventures Izavieknik River Float.jpg

The Izavieknik River is a very remote float and one of the most scenic of all the Southwest Alaska float trip options. It’s a shorter float and ideal for groups who would rather spend more time camping and hiking in lieu of the longer float trip options.

Drop Off:
By Float Plane from Bethel to Upper Togiak Lake

Length:
Approximately 12 river miles

Float Duration: Minimum 3 days. Average duration = 4-5 days

Pick Up:
Clients are picked up at Togiak Lake by floatplane and flown back to Bethel.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the commitment of safety to our clients, each group will be required to carry a satellite communication device (ie. Sat Phone, DeLorme, inReach, etc). If you are unable to bring your own device, Papa Bear will provide you with one for a fee.

Besides a Sockeye run that reaches Upper Togiak Lake by late July, the Izavieknik offers great Char fishing along with Grayling and Lake Trout.

The fishing begins each year in early July and runs through mid-September. It’s a lesser known river with little fishing pressure.
