DOCK HAND
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a position for a Dock Hand in Bethel, Alaska. This is a part-time position that starts June 15th, and runs through October 1st. This is position is 6 days a week usually between 8-14 hours with 1 day off a week starting July 15th. Note: there will be days and times through the day where your services will not be needed. Start time and end time may vary due to pick-ups, drop-offs, and scheduled morning breakfasts. At the start of the season, it will be slower around the lodge but will continue to get busier as the season progresses. You will be able to use this time to work with your employer to get to know the area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare aircraft for the days flights
2. Pull client gear prior to trip
3. Checking and cleaning of rental gear
4. Driving clients to river/lake
5. Docking Floatplanes
6. Loading and unloading airplane
7. General lodge and vehicle maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS
Have and maintain a current driver’s license.
Must be able to legally work in the United States.
A $1,000 food stipend. $14,000 for the season. June is $1500, July is 2500, August is $4000 and September is $6000. Papa Bear Adventures does not offer 401K or medical benefits.

LODGE HANDLER
JOB DESCRIPTION

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cooking breakfast for lodge guests, keeping in mind that most breakfasts are served to the guests at approx. 6:30AM. Note: Not all mornings require breakfast, and flight-dependent breakfasts will be served later in the morning.
Cleaning and flipping lodge between guests, i.e. cleaning the common areas, bathrooms, change bedding, dishes, vacuum, etc.
Picking up/taking clients to airport within respectable time frames.
Running errands for the lodge, i.e. shopping, banking, sending/receiving mail, etc.
Taking clients at reasonable times to town for last-minute supplies.
Assist with rescheduling of flights for clients in the event that there are cancellations or delays.
Organizing dock hands’ food, i.e. shop for/order specific items.
Take count and stock supplies for the lodge, i.e. paper products, soap, laundry necessities, food for breakfast prep. etc. Nonessential purchases will be discussed before purchasing.
Organize water/sewer pick up and drop off when needed.
Fly into Anchorage to organize and deliver the proper food, cleaning supplies, and lodge items that are needed throughout the season.
QUALIFICATIONS
Have and maintain a current driver’s license.
Must be able to associate with clients to welcome them and answer any questions they have about the lodge and Bethel. Also, direct them to places within the city that will suit their needs.
Must be able to work well with other employees and make split-second decisions.

PILOT
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is for a DHC-2/PA-18 pilot doing drop offs and pick ups during the fishing and hunting season. The season starts June 1 and ends October 1. This job is physically and mentally demanding. Your day would begin at 8AM for preflight, fueling, and other flight-related tasks. The first flight of the day usually departs at 9AM from either the Kuskokwim river, or Hanger Lake depending on weather conditions. The PIC must have experience with decision making in mountainous terrain and deteriorating weather conditions. A normal day consists of 4-8 hours of flying with the last flight ending between 6PM to 10PM depending on delays during the day. Your duty day is from 8AM to 10PM. During the hunting season, you can expect to handle moose meat, hides and antlers daily. External loads are an everyday occurrence during this period as well. You must be able to carry up to 70 lbs, be a team player, and live in a group setting sharing kitchen and bathroom areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transport persons and property safely from point to point efficiently and in compliance with the FAA regulations.
Fueling, preflight, and configuration of aircraft is set for the first flight prior to 9AM unless given an earlier start time the night before.
Report directly to the Chief Pilot.
Maintain a valid and current 1st or 2nd class medical.
Keep airplane interior in a clean and acceptable condition.
Safely secure passengers and cargo prior to engine start.
Assist in the 100 hour inspections.
In the rare occasion that help is needed while not flying, be available to assist as a team player.
HOUSING
Clean and comfortable housing will be provided on the employee side of the lodge. Private room provided with a bed, bedding, closet and dresser. Satellite TV and Internet provided.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Must have previous Alaska experience. Preference will be given to 135 experience.
Must have prior float experience in the DHC-2.
Must have at least 2000 TT and 500 float time.
