Whether you’re an experienced fly-fishing enthusiast looking for a new challenge in a remote locale or a relative newcomer looking for an outdoor adventure, Papa Bear Adventures offers some of the finest fishing and outdoor adventures in Alaska. All our float and hunting trips are unguided, or DIY. This enables those who don’t want to pay the steep costs of a guided trip to save some money and enjoy the satisfaction of surviving and thriving in the Alaskan wilderness on their own. A self guided float trip in Alaska is a “must” for all fishermen seeking an adventure of a lifetime. Oh, did I mention the that you’ll be catching a lot of fish as well!!
You’ll be able to catch a variety of species on one of our nine beautiful, secluded rivers in Southwest Alaska. Our unique location means we can offer many different fishing options for different skill and experience levels. There’s always a new spot you haven’t tried! With Papa Bear, you’ll be able to enjoy fishing and rafting adventures on several of the more remote rivers in Southwest Alaska.
All of the rivers we offer are world class fisheries. Some are more popular than others, but each has an abundance of fish just waiting to be caught. Fly fishing or rod-n-reel, get ready for an incredible experience.

To help ensure a safe and successful trip, groups will receive river coordinates along with a date and time for pick up once their initial deposit has been made. Each group will also be supplied with an information packet that includes recommended packing lists for their trip including food, clothing and camping equipment.
Satellite communication devices, such as a Garmin inReach or satellite phone, are mandatory when going on an Alaskan hunting or fishing adventure. We encourage guests to bring their own satellite communication device, and should you not have one, we have them available to rent for a fee.
